The posts are certainly slowing down.
Two weekends ago Kristen headed off to Vegas with Katie for a crazy girl's weekend. They lost some money, but managed to stay out of trouble. As far as I know. I spent some time setting up the computer I'm taking to Cody to hand over to Ma. I also biked into town and enjoyed a Sunday of people watching on the mall. The weather was beautiful, sunny skies in the mid eighties.
The following week I headed to Portland to meet with some of the other developers. The travel went smoothly, but I think I freaked a bunch of the other guys out with all this talk of "new technology". They seem a little hesitant for change. Oh well.
Kristen and I went for a big run on Saturday. It was hot which slowed us down quite a bit. We then headed down to Louisville/Lafayette to meet up with Kristen's nephew Maddock at Chucky Cheese's. As a child I'd always wanted to visit a Chucky Cheese, and 30 years later finally got my wish. After 3 and a half hours I'd had enough, as had Maddock. Another childhood dream, squashed.
Maddock spent the night with us so that his parents could have a night out and then go for a hot air balloon ride Sunday morning. Luckily for Kristen's and my sanity, Allison and Jeremiah finished with the ride fairly early on Sunday. Three-year-olds require a lot of energy. Good luck Becky!
I'm preparing for a mid-week trip to Cody for my 20 year high school reunion. Mom's computer is all freshly formatted and installed, fresh oil is in the Rav4, I'm ready.

Crazy Times
It's getting harder to keep up with this thing.
Last weekend was pretty busy. I managed to sell Kristen's Focus on Friday. It's nice to have one fewer vehicle to worry about. Kristen and I headed to Nederland after work. We were running the Rollinsville 5k on Saturday morning, and stayed in Nederland in order to have an easy trip in the morning.
Saturday morning was absolutely beautiful, it was great to be in the mountains, and it made us both realize we need to get out and enjoy them more often. We made it to the start of the race in time, and had a good leisurely run. About midway through the race was a slightly hippie-ish band made up of a tuba player, a flutist, a drummer, a cow-beller, and I believe a saxophonist. The drummer was singing, but didn't know any of the words, so would chant the word "Run!" over and over again in time with the music. Inspiring indeed.
Afterward we headed back into Boulder for a friends BBQ and horseshoe tournament. Unfortunately the weather came up and rained out the horse shoe match. It was fun hanging out with a slightly different group than normal, and it gave Kristen and I an excuse to exercise our socializing muscles, which always seem to be out of shape.
I dropped Kristen off and headed to Casper to help celebrate Brent's bachelor party. I showed up well after the festivities started, which was good for my liver. We did have a good time, and sent Brent off as well as we could. We all stayed up until 3:30 or so, which is getting more difficult every year.
Sunday morning involved a stormy trip back to Boulder. On both the way up and the way back I drove through tornado warning areas. There was a good bit of hail, but I didn't see any actual funnel clouds.
Meanwhile, Kristen had headed out to Keensburg to visit her father. They went for a buggy ride, pulled some rye out of his alfalfa, and talked chainsaws. She took some pictures, but I don't have the camera handy.
At work we've had corporate visitors this week which has kept me busy. Kristen has just headed off for Vegas with her sister Katie. They were both pretty excited when I last saw them. I hope they enjoy the trip!

Big Head Todd
Katie and Jordan showed up on Friday. They were in town for a Big Head Todd & The Monster concert at Red Rocks, and for the Sunrise Stampede 10k race in Longmont.
The race was Saturday morning. The weather was beautiful, the conditions were great, and we all had a blast running through the nicer portions of Longmont. Morrissey, Sharon, Christy & Jeff Nedrow, and Bridget joined us for the race. Afterwards we enjoyed a bite of lunch in downtown Longmont, relishing every last morsel on each plate.
After some well deserved naps the girls dropped Jordan and I off on Pearl Street on their way to the concert. They thoroughly enjoyed the show, coming back with CDs and T-shirts. Jordan and I enjoyed the required Pasta Jays post-race celebration, followed by several beers. Toward the end of the evening we ended up in some foo-foo bar with Morrissey, Sharon, and a few other acquaintances. Luckily the girls showed up not too long afterward to whisk us back to the condo.
The non-stop food fest continued the next morning with a big breakfast. Katie and Jordan took off for Junction shortly afterward, and Kristen and I laid low for the rest of the day.
The weather got amazingly cool Sunday night. I hear Casper got a few inches of snow. Kristen took Monday off, trying to get through her vacation days in a timely fashion. I arrived home to a good smelling house and some kind of artichoke potato frittata. It was awesome.

Quick catch up
Let's see... Two weekends ago was Memorial day weekend. It was fairly rainy all weekend, which meant a lot of napping and staying inside. Memorial day involved the Bolder Boulder race, which is always a lot of fun. As is the tradition, we dressed up in wigs and ridiculous outfits, and slowly made it through the course.
Last year got a little out of control, and we swore we'd be a little more serious this year. Unfortunately the opposite occurred, and it took us a half an hour longer this year than it did last year. There's something amazingly liberating about putting on a costume, placing yourself in the middle of 50,000 people, and traveling through town.
Our time was so slow (2 hours and 24 minutes) that 99.5% of the male participants were faster than we were. But I bet we had more fun than most of them.
In fact, we had a little too much fun, which made us all thankful that they only have the race once a year.
Other than that, things have been pretty slow around here. Kristen bought a new vehicle, so she's now driving a much sportier ride. Unfortunately we've had no luck selling the Focus, so for the moment we're a four vehicle family.
The weather was much nicer this weekend. Kristen got out and ran a bit and I got some biking in. I ended up working the majority of the weekend, while Kristen held down the fort. We did pedal down to the mall one day to enjoy the weather and a good lunch at the Med.

Great Spring Weekend
The weather was great this weekend. The garden seems to be responding, the radishes are already showing themselves, and everything but the cucumber seems to be growing like gangbusters.
I did a little work on Saturday, while Kristen worked on the patio garden a bit. We then headed out to Red Rocks to witness the "Flight of the Conchords". It's been a few years since the two of us went to a show there. The hassle of the crowds proved worth it, we both enjoyed the shenanigans of Bret and Jemaine. For the uninitiated, here's a classic example of their work.
Sunday was beautiful, we managed to get up pretty early and biked into town for some breakfast. We then spent several hours on the Pearl Street Mall soaking in the weather and watching people. We were there long enough to take in lunch as well, then we pedaled back to the house for a big Sunday nap. Pretty good day.

Mother's Day Weekend
The weather finally warmed up to more typical spring time temperatures this last week. Kristen got a bunch of running in, I did a lot of biking. It really feels and smells like spring. It's always amazing how great that is.
Saturday morning Kristen and I headed to a nursery in Lafayette to pick up some plants for the garden. We've had bad weather or have been out of town on the weekends, so we're a little behind on the gardening. We picked up some tomatoes, onions, marigolds, a lot of pepper plants, and a few other random bits and pieces.
Kristen spent some time cleaning up the patio, the plan is to have a larger patio garden this year since we had to give up half of our garden plot. We also did some digging and raking in the garden in order to prepare for a big planting session. The dirt looks good, we're hopeful that we'll have another fruitful growing season.
We also took some time to put Kristen's car up for sale on Craigslist. Nate is selling his speedy Subaru, and Kristen is ready for an all wheel drive vehicle, so the timing is good. We haven't had any calls so far, even with glossy pictures and seductive descriptions, it may be hard to sell a car in this economic environment.
I headed out Saturday night with Nate. He has another kid on the way and his job has been hectic lately, so it was good to get him out of the house. We met up with Matt a little later, and then stayed out much later than we planned to. Kristen was kind enough to come pick us up in the wee hours of the morning and gave everyone a ride home.
On Sunday, Kristen's mother Joni stopped by, and the two of them walked a big Mother's Day 9k race at the reservoir. They seemed to enjoy themselves, and it was fun for me to watch hundreds of mother-daughter groups race across the finish line.
The weather turned cold and damp for all of Sunday which stopped us from doing much outside. We did meet up with Allison and Maddock for lunch. Maddock did some wonderful coloring at the local restaurant.
