We made it back in one piece.
However, I've uploaded the pictures to Google+, instead of Blogger, as previously threatened. If you need an invite for Google+, send me the e-mail address you'd like to you, and I'll send the invite your direction.

Google Plus
I'm thinking of moving these updates over to Google+, instead of continuing to post here. For those in the dark, it's like Facebook, just better. It's a lot easier to use, I don't have to keep track of a bunch of different accounts, and I have one place to go upload photos, check statuses, etc.
If you're interested in following along, and don't already have a Google+ account, let me know, and I'll send you an invite.

A few more weeks
A few more weeks have passed us by. Two weekends ago was pretty low-key, not much to report there.
Last Thursday Kristen and I took off from work a little early, and drove to Lusk Wyoming. We spent the night there, then headed off to Deadwood early the next morning.
We checked into our room, upgrading to a suite for $1, which seemed like a pretty good deal. We met Ma, Pa, Becky, Jason, Jean, Chuck, and a bunch of other Beckman clan at the Black Hills National Cemetery outside of Sturgis. We had a brief service for Nono, and then went our separate ways for the evening.
Kristen and I met up with Nate, Mary, Tony and Lisa in Deadwood a few hours later. We ate, drank, and gambled a bit. Nate was the big winner, coming out $50 ahead or so. The rest of us lost in various shades of red, but we all had a lot of fun. Brent & Trudy didn't make the trip, and Vince apparently was never told about it. We'll need to do better than that next time.
Saturday involved hanging out at Palmer Gulch Resort, saying "Hi" to people who looked pretty familiar. We had several Canada conversations amongst the nuclear family, as that trip is looming. We also did the traditional three legged race, water balloon toss, etc.
I'm taking off tomorrow evening to meet up with Becky & Jason in Cloquet Minnesota for one of the better burgers on the planet. We're hoping to fly into camp mid-afternoon on Sunday. Ought to be fun!

Crested Butte
After some serious confusion about the schedule, Kristen and I eventually headed to Crested Butte Friday afternoon. We drove along highway 285, through Buena Vista, and over Cottonwood pass. The drive was amazingly scenic. It's easy to forget how beautiful Colorado is.
Once we made it to Crested Butte, we found a good camping spot, and set up camp right before dark. About five minutes after getting to bed, a huge thunderstorm broke out, and kept us awake for a few hours Luckily the tent held up, and we stayed nice and dry. Kristen and I both slept well considering, and spent the next morning exploring. The wild flowers were in full bloom. We were staring to understand why Crested Butte claims to be Colorado's wild flower capital.
We eventually drove into town, and walked around the main drag. It was nice, but it looked like it would be difficult to afford to live there.
Later in the evening, we headed to Todd & Heather's wedding, which was conveniently being held about 300 feet from our camping spot. It rained right as the wedding started, but everything worked out in the end. It was quite a wedding, one of the best we'd been to.
The next morning we headed back to Boulder. We made a side stop at BuckSnort Saloon, located in Sphinx Park. It was way off the beaten path, up a ridiculous road, perched between some vaguely Sphinx shaped rock outcrops. It was a good way to end an adventurous weekend.

Happy Fourth of July!
I hope everyone had a good Fourth!
Trying to catch up over the last few weekends. We haven't been too busy, trying to rest up before various trips turn our lives upside down.
Here are a few pictures from Kristen's Telluride extravaganza, as promised. It's hard to believe that she was in fresh snow a few weeks ago.
This weekend was pretty busy. We did a lot of housework on Saturday. Sunday involved a big mountain bike ride for Jeff Nedrow and myself (Heil & Hall ranch). We ended up in Lyons, and met up with Kristen and Christy at the Oskar Blue brewery for a late lunch.
On Sunday Allison, Maddock, and Connal stopped by to celebrate the Fourth. We headed into Boulder for a "Kids Parade", which involved following a drummer around for a few blocks.
Luckily Maddock and Chloe had fun playing with one another, which took a load off of my duties. Chloe slept pretty well for the rest of the day.

Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day, Dad! Hope you had a good one!
It sounds like the folks will be here in a few days. I hope they're ready to entertain a very energetic kitten.
Kristen's been out of town since Wednesday, and frankly I'm getting tired of babysitting this cat. There's been one tree rescue from about 35' up, one lost collar, multiple attacks out-of-no-where on my feet in the middle of the night, constant danger of tripping to my death over the cat underfoot., and 3 am cat skrimishes complete with yowling and thunderous stampeding through the house.
On the other hand, the weather has been great for the last three weeks. It really feels like summer, and it's always fun to remember how great that can be around here.
I've been riding the bike into work almost everyday, getting in about 75 miles of commuting a week. I went for a 30 mile ride today to escape the cats, although it about killed me. I'm still getting my legs under me, I can tell that I was doing better at this point last year, never a good feeling.
Kristen has been in Telluride at the big bluegrass festival, she should return tomorrow. She was pretty excited to see Mumford & Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sarah Mclachlan, and Robert Plant. I'm sure we'll have pictures of that for the next posting.
She and Katie hit Big Head Todd a few weekend ago at Red Rocks, so her summer concerting is in full swing.
Chloe wants to type something:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;msaikja
I've spent a bunch of time trying to get Ma's computer back to a functioning state. I gave up on Saturday, Ma, I'll have a new one ready for you in time for the family reunion. Think of it as a late Mother's Day gift.
