Not Much To Report
Nothing much happened this weekend. Kristen and I spent some time in the mountains on Saturday, I worked most of Sunday. The Indiana bug bites are slowly fading into memory, and my cold is finally gone. The cats have come to believe we're back for a while, so their incessant meowing has quieted down.
Now some exciting news for Dad: My latest dentist visit resulted in the best periodontal exam numbers I've ever achieved! My new flossing and brushing regiment has paid off! Huzzah!
I did update the tree house blog with more detail on what we accomplished on this last trip.

Spring Farm Trip
Kristen and I are back from the farm trip. It was great seeing the folks and spending some time in the tree house.
The weather was uncharacteristically warm, Louisville reached 87 degrees on Sunday. There was a lot of sweating involved, although at night things cooled down to a comfortable level.
There weren't many leaves on the trees yet, but there were a lot of flowers and other signs of life. The bluebells beneath the tree house were in full bloom. We even found a few morel mushrooms a few feet from the tree house.

Kristen and I went for a big hike one day, we covered just under 3 miles, getting a little confused here and there, but generally ending up where we wanted to. Kristen wore her GPS, so we were able to see our route.

Barb and Jim came over one night, and we celebrated my birthday a bit early. I received many great gifts, including a chainsaw. I got to put it to use, along with the face shield I received at Christmas. I'm still a little sore from the two tanks of gas I went through, but I had a lot of fun in the process.

Mom and Dad had a zillion projects going on, all seemingly at once. The raft had a bit of tree damage, they were tilling up the garden, Dad was burning brush, Mom was unpacking and organizing, Dad was pointing Randy Jeffries toward re-wiring the shop, guests kept stopping by, etc. They did all this while helping us with our projects and keeping us fed. It was a bit chaotic, I'm impressed they can pull it off so easily.

Tommy dropped by one day to let us borrow the Mule for a bit, we had a lot of fun zipping around in it. We transferred a lot of gear that way, and got a load of firewood down to the tree house in it too. We did have to make a slight modification to Tommy's "No-Bama" bumper sticker though.

We did a bunch of work on the tree house, with a lot of help from Dad and Mom. We built a swinging boom arm to which we attached the block and tackle. We managed to get 4 or 5 loads up there using it, including the Jotul stove. Installation of the stove will have to wait for another trip, the boom arm construction and attachment took up the lions share of our time. I'll eventually update the tree house blog with the sordid details.

I unfortunately came down with a cold during the first couple of days of the trip. Everyone's telling me I have the swine flu, but it just feels like a cold to me. It made the trip back a bit uncomfortable, but we made it back without any complications. We're now nursing our scrapes and bruises, and the multitude of bug bites we incurred during the the trip.
Kristen brought home my favorite Indian food for my birthday dinner. I can usually eat the whole thing, but tonight I took the high road and put some in the fridge for tomorrow. My stomach will thank me later.

Travel
The weather continues to be wacky here. Friday it snowed a few inches, a lot less than the 1 foot that they were saying was possible. The mountains got pummeled, Winter Park got 11 inches Friday, and 22 inches on Saturday.
Friday night Nate and I planned on meeting up for a beer, it had been a while since we saw one another. We instead opted to meet up online and let loose a world of hurt on the unsuspecting Zombie population in the game "Left 4 Dead". I knew I'd crossed some threshold when meeting up in a virtual setting and battling zombies was more appealing than meeting up in real life.
We had a birthday party to go to on Saturday. Our friend Matt's son Derek turned 3. Matt cooked up a bunch of his excellent BBQ ribs and chicken, and we all pigged out. There were about a dozen screaming kids running around in a loosely organized pack. The adults were able to maintain control of the party, but just barely.
I'm heading to Portland for the first half of the week. Then on Thursday Kristen and I head to the farm. We're really hoping the morel mushrooms are ready to be harvested.

Science and Nature Museum
Kristen, I, Maddock, Allison, Katie, and Jordan met up at the Science and Nature Museum on Saturday. There was a lot to see and do, and a few crowds to fight. Maddock seemed to enjoy it, although he fell asleep right away during the IMAX movie.
The rest of the weekend was really lazy. Kristen did a lot of cooking on Sunday, making raisin and challah bread, and home made strawberry ice cream. We cooked a big Easter dinner, and celebrated the holiday with the cats.
Since we don't have any pictures to share, here's a "Making of" video for Becky's birthday party. There's only a little cussing involved.

Quick Post
I'm falling behind on the posting, so here's a quick one. I took off Friday to head up to Winter Park for one last hurrah. Morrissey and I timed it well, it snowed over a foot while we were up there. We stayed overnight so that we could enjoy the snow on Saturday as well. Luckily the roads were clear, and the trip back was easy.
We were curious to see how the Silverton trip skewed our perception of the more advanced terrain at Mary Jane. It certainly made everything feel easier, although some of that may have been the excellent snow we were on. All in all it was a great snowboarding season, I got 21 days in, which is probably my record. On Friday we did 20 black or double black runs. I'm only recording this here so that when I'm well into my "crotchety" age, I can verify the memory of my snowboarding glory.
The Boulder area avoided the big storm that hit the mountains, they were claiming that over a foot of snow was possible in town, but instead only got a few inches.
Kristen did some baking, she's a big fan of the dough hook on the KitchenAid. I had warm raisin bread waiting for me when I got home. It also made for good french toast the next morning.
Sunday was really laid back, we didn't accomplish much at all. That was exactly as awesome as I hoped it would be.
