We had a great weekend. Here's the quick summary:

Saturday morning Kristen and I ran for about an hour for our 10k training. We then headed in to town to eat lunch, and to watch the Kinetics parade. Kinetics is one of the rights of passage for summer in Boulder, consisting of 20 to 30 teams of competitors that build crafts that must finish a land/water/mud course. There's also an outdoor concert, and about 20 or 30 thousand people typically show up. My friend Nate has competed for several years, this year he's a craft judge. We were hoping to run into him at the parade, but never saw him. We're having a larger then normal group of friends show up for the even this year, so hopefully it'll be a good year for it.

After the parade we headed up to Nederland to hang out there for the rest of the day. We had fun people watching, and eventually ate at our favorite restaurant there. We stayed the night, got up on Sunday morning and went for a walk. Back to town we went, Kristen studied, and I finished the first mud pass on the bathroom.

We forgot to bring the camera, so you'll have to settle for this picture of a very rare dual-belly-rub.

I've been spending the last several days working on the master bathroom. It doesn't have a fan in it, so years of taking showers in there has wreaked havoc with the paint. It had started peeling and cracking in several places.

After three days of sanding, several layers of paint were visible, and the green-board was exposed in a few large patches.

I've started mudding the walls as necessary. This is my first experience doing this, so hopefully I'm not dragging my resale value down in the process.

Kristen, Nate, and I ran the Earth Day 5k yesterday. This is the third year we've run it, and did better this year than we've ever done before.

Nate ended up beating me by nearly a minute, a far cry from the last second win he eeked out last week. I suspect doping.

Kristen and I both bettered our time from the previous year by a full minute, which is pretty good.

Here comes Kristen toward the finish line. She was having problems with shin splints, and ended up walking a portion of the run. She bought some new shoes today, hopefully they'll help solve that problem.

We're starting a blog! The idea is to keep track of our various adventures/misadventures here. Hopefully we'll update often, but we'll see how that goes!
