Happy Fourth of July!

I hope everyone had a good Fourth!

Trying to catch up over the last few weekends.  We haven't been too busy, trying to rest up before various trips turn our lives upside down.

Here are a few pictures from Kristen's Telluride extravaganza, as promised.  It's hard to believe that she was in fresh snow a few weeks ago.
This weekend was pretty busy.  We did a lot of housework on Saturday.  Sunday involved a big mountain bike ride for Jeff Nedrow and myself (Heil & Hall ranch).  We ended up in Lyons, and met up with Kristen and Christy at the Oskar Blue brewery for a late lunch.

On Sunday Allison, Maddock, and Connal stopped by to celebrate the Fourth.  We headed into Boulder for a "Kids Parade", which involved following a drummer around for a few blocks.

Luckily Maddock and Chloe had fun playing with one another, which took a load off of my duties.  Chloe slept pretty well for the rest of the day.

It sounds like the folks will be here in a few days.  I hope they're ready to entertain a very energetic kitten.

Kristen's been out of town since Wednesday, and frankly I'm getting tired of babysitting this cat.  There's been one tree rescue from about 35' up, one lost collar, multiple attacks out-of-no-where on my feet in the middle of the night, constant danger of tripping to my death over the cat underfoot., and 3 am cat skrimishes complete with yowling and thunderous stampeding through the house.

On the other hand, the weather has been great for the last three weeks.  It really feels like summer, and it's always fun to remember how great that can be around here.

I've been riding the bike into work almost everyday, getting in about 75 miles of commuting a week.  I went for a 30 mile ride today to escape the cats, although it about killed me.  I'm still getting my legs under me, I can tell that I was doing better at this point last year, never a good feeling.

Kristen has been in Telluride at the big bluegrass festival, she should return tomorrow.  She was pretty excited to see Mumford & Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show, Sarah Mclachlan, and Robert Plant.  I'm sure we'll have pictures of that for the next posting.

She and Katie hit Big Head Todd a few weekend ago at Red Rocks, so her summer concerting is in full swing.

I've spent a bunch of time trying to get Ma's computer back to a functioning state.  I gave up on Saturday, Ma, I'll have a new one ready for you in time for the family reunion.  Think of it as a late Mother's Day gift.

Bolder Boulder

The race was run.  We had fun in the sun.

Chloe

Kristen and I picked up a kitten on Thursday.  So far "Chloe" is the favorite name.  We'll see if it sticks.

Kristen spent a lot of time in the garden with Chloe today.  We have more salad material than we know what to do with.  Things are growing like crazy, and Kristen is planting like mad.

Tomorrow Katie and Jordan show up in preparation for the big Bolder Boulder race.  We have a big group this year, it ought to be a lot of fun.  A few of the guys are dressing up as the fictional band "Donkey Slayer".  We've had t-shirts printed up with our likenesses.  We also have some fake tattoo sleeves to make it look like we mean business.

Not much to report

Yep, the title says it all.  Kristen headed to Montrose last weekend, while I stayed home and coded.  This weekend we had Kristen's dad Bruce over for dinner on Saturday, and did a bit of yard work.  The weather finally dried up, and we inched into the 70s.

Nice Weather

We've had some really nice weather.  We've enjoyed four or five days of above 70, and a few 80+ degree days.  The cooler weather is returning, but it's been great having some spectacular spring weather.

Kristen and I headed out on the town on Friday night.  CU was having their graduation, so downtown was a bit crazy.  We enjoyed hanging out and people watching, lot's of parents and grand-parents in town for the ceremony.

Saturday was pretty laid back.  I worked for a few hours, Kristen spent 3 hours in the yard working on the garden plots.  She's planted a lot of new stuff, moved a few things around, and got a pretty good sunburn.  We had our first salad out of the garden for dinner.  Tasty!

Sunday morning Kristen ran the Mother's Day Title 9k at the reservoir.  Our friend Mary ran it as well, I got to help watch Violet and Karissa during the race, which was exciting.  Kristen survived the run, and had fun doing it.

We headed into Longmont for a few hours, watching a lot of middle-aged Harley riders cruise through town.  It looked like a lot of them had come in from Deadwood, judging by their outfits.  Seemed a bit early to be out on the bikes, but I guess when you have the love for the road, it's hard to ignore its call.  Or something.

Indiana Trip

Kristen and I had a great time on the farm.  What a great way to spend a 40th birthday!
